Why You Lose Your Data

Logical Data Loss

Sometimes, you lose data due to software bugs, quirks, or even viruses and spyware. If the storage media is functioning and is detected the operating system YET you cannot access any data, there is a good chance that logical data loss has occurred.

Software Bugs

Programmer error is usually the root of software bugs and errors. This is due to the complex nature of programming software’s, and computers in general, and not entirely the fault of the human programmer.

Sometimes, software's do not confirm the delete procedure, thus leaving you in the dark. Other times, conflicts between hardware and software’s occur. These may result in the programme or even the computer crashing before a save is made, or even corruption to the save file.

Corrupted Data Or File System

Improper installation of a programme or operating system can cause data corruption. So too do hardware malfunctions.

What causes corruption is interruption of transmitting data either during installation or saving of data. Once interruption occurs, the save and installation has not been done properly, resulting in errors.

Hardware failures, in essence, also prevents data from being read or saved properly, hence data corruption occurs.

Viruses

Viruses are programmes and they need to be allowed to replicate before they do so. It seems simple enough to block them out in theory, but sometimes they attach themselves to legitimate programmes. Once you execute the said infected programme, or even OS operations, it will activate the virus along with it.

Some viruses are programmed to destroy. If your system is infected, your files will be destroyed. Others simply replicate themselves to spread the programmers name or purpose.

Then there are those who eat up your system resources, causing your computer to run erratically. Once your system runs erratically, there is a possibility that you files can’t save properly, or even crashing the operating system by inducing bugs into the system.

Spyware

Although spyware by itself won’t cause loss of data, the snow ball effect of spyware is deveastating. Pop up’s, page hijacking, and sometimes, spyware which install another spyware after another can cause you computer to slowdown or even rendered unusable.
